Tour de Fleece

The annual Tour de Fleece invites handspinners to spin along with the Tour de France cycling competition. Spinners of all experience levels and spinning styles come together as a community to cheer each other on, share what they're working on, and get some spinning done every day (or nearly so!).

Spun's Tour de Fleece team will be meeting in person. To participate:

• Sign up here and let us know what your personal goal is.
• Attend at least one in-person spin-in.
• Report your progress toward your goal at the end of the event.

Your personal goal can be anything! Maybe you want to spin a little every day of the race, or you're trying to finally ply all those bobbins. You could also do something spinning related, like fiber prep or reading spinning books and magazines. Or you could aim for distance (yards spun) or weight (stash reduction).

At the end of Tour de Fleece, we'll check in on our goals, celebrate wins, and commiserate with hurdles. There will be prizes!

We'll also take a victory lap during the Tour de France Femme, August 1-9, known (of course) as the Tour de Fleece Femme. This will be a perfect time to ply your last yarn, finish that fleece you got most of the way through, or cast on a project with your fresh handspun.

Some fun things happening at Spun during the Tour:

• Late June: Kim Russo of Kim Dyes Yarn will be providing a custom Tour de Fleece colorway for Spun, dyed on her BFL/Silk base.
• July 5: Monthly Community Spin-In at Spun, 2-4pm. All spinners welcome! Bring your wheel, spindle, or hand carders.
• July 25-August 3: Heartland Yarn Adventure.  Enjoy this 4-state hop, with over 80 shops participating!
• August 1-2: The talented Kim Russo of Kim Dyes Yarn will be at Spun, with her yarn and fiber.
• August 2: Monthly Community Spin-In at Spun, 2-4pm. All spinners welcome!
