Streifen

Cheerful Streifen is the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one, simple to knit and wear. Cumbria Fingering’s fiber content (that Brown Masham!) brings a rich darkness to Streifen that we find irresistible, but another fingering-weight yarn may be substituted. If you do substitute a yarn with less body than Cumbria Fingering, please be sure to adjust your needle size, if necessary, to yield a pleasing fabric. Gauge is not essential to this project, in other words, but remember that your gauge will affect your project’s finished dimensions.
YARN: Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering (60% Merino, 30% Masham, 10% mohair, 328yd per 100g skein) in “Hadrian’s Wall,” 2 skeins (COLOR A), AND “Catbells,” 2 skeins (COLOR B)
NEEDLES: US Size 6/4mm needles or size needed to achieve gauge
SIZE: 88” long by 24” wide
GAUGE: 16 sts and 28 rows is 4” in garter stitch after blocking
