Spun is pleased to be working with Knit the Rainbow!
The United States is home to over 500,000 unhoused LGBTQ+ youth, with over 8,000 in New York City alone. Founded in 2020, Knit the Rainbow works to provide warm goods that are handmade with love to unhoused LGBTQ+ youth. While KTR originally served NYC alone, it has since expanded its efforts to Chicago, with the goal of eventually distributing knit and crochet goods to urban centers across the country.
If you'd like to become involved in this work, simply bring your hand-crocheted and hand-knit goods to Spun, and we'll take it from there. With KTR's permission, we will keep some of your goods local, at Ozone House's Pride Zone, if there's need, and send the rest on to New York.
You can learn more about Knit the Rainbow's work here, and you can find all kinds of great donated (and youth-friendly!) patterns on their website here.
