Spun-Matching Fundraiser for Food Gatherers
November 2025
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services recently announced that SNAP benefits will not be distributed in November. In Michigan, 13% of households rely on SNAP benefits for access to healthy foods. When benefits are unavailable, or delayed, many of our neighbors experience food insecurity and must turn to the local food safety network to take care of their families.
For 30 years now, Food Gatherers has been at the center of Washtenaw County's food safety network, working to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community. In response to the current state of urgency, Food Gatherers is purchasing more food than usual and expanding its food distribution, hoping to ensure that everyone in our community has access to the food they need.
During the month of November, Spun will be asking our in-store customers whether they'd like to round up their purchases to the next dollar amount or above, with all donations going directly to Food Gatherers. And we'll be matching all your donations, and so doubling all our efforts. Together we can protect our community from hunger!
You can learn more about Food Gatherers, and donate directly, on their website.
