Cast-Ons: Beyond the Basic
Teacher: Carol Ullmann
Cost: $50
When: Monday, July 27, 6:00–8:00pm
Description: Did you know that there are many different ways to cast on? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn several different cast-on methods that will add nuance and style to your projects. We’ll study a few different cast-ons, and talk about when they might be helpful or suitable, including the old Norwegian cast-on (aka the German twisted cast-on), the slip knot cast-on, the alternating cable cast-on, and the Italian tubular cast-on. You’ll have an opportunity to practice each method and create reference cards with swatches.
Prerequisites: Participants should be comfortable with the long-tail cast-on, knit and purl stitches, and the standard bind-off.
Homework: None
Min/max number of participants: 4/10
Materials to bring along:
- 1 skein light-colored worsted weight yarn, purchased from Spun (we suggest Berroco Lanas, Cascade 220 or Cascade 220 Superwash)

- Size H or I crochet hook
- Scissors or snips
