Baby Sweater Workshop: “Gumnut Cardigan” by OGE Knitwear Designs

Teacher: Karen Lucas

Cost: $125

When: Mondays, August 3, 17 & 31, 6:00–8:00pm

Description: Did you know that the only difference between baby and adult sweaters is the cuteness? Knitting baby sweaters is a great way to explore garment construction, and this workshop will leave you with plenty of skills and techniques that you can apply to future projects of any size. With Karen's guidance, you’ll explore top-down cardigan construction, simple lace (including lifelines), and buttonholes. You’ll also have the opportunity to try out three different methods of small-diameter knitting when you work the sleeves: using DPNs, the magic loop, and circular "shortie" needles, which the instructor will bring to class. The end results: new skills for you and an extremely adorable baby sweater to give or keep!

Prerequisites: Students should be able to cast on, knit and purl confidently.

Homework:

  1. Work a swatch with your chosen yarn. Detailed swatching instructions will be provided when you register.
  2. Choose your preferred size, cast on, and knit four rows, as described in the pattern.
  3. Please bring your swatch to the first class, along with your printed pattern and a highlighter.

Min/max number of participants: 5/8
