Spun's Mother's Day Hat Drive
In Partnership with the Women's Center of Southeastern Michigan
May 8 through July 31, 2026
In honor of Mother's Day, Spun celebrates all kinds of families, including families of choice, and all the women who call Southeast Michigan their home. This year, Spun is celebrating families by partnering with the Women's Center of Southeast Michigan to make a whole lot of hats for schoolchildren in Washtenaw County.
How it works:
- Come into Spun to pick up a free skein of Berroco Ultra Wool. (You are of course welcome to work from your stash as well!)
- Make a hat! (You'll find some ideas for knit and crochet hats here and here.)
- Return your finished hat to Spun by July 31.
- We'll turn the hats over to the Women's Center of Southeastern Michigan, and they'll take it from there!
The nonprofit Women's Center exists to help women, older teens, men, and gender-diverse individuals to recognize and exit abusive situations, escape isolation, succeed in school and work, protect themselves emotionally and financially when a relationship ends, and build their resumes and self-esteem. Their mission is broadly to recognize that emotional, mental, and economic health are intertwined, and their services are available to all. You can read more about their work, and donate directly, here.
