Fabric-Lined Pouch Workshop
Teacher: Karen Lucas
Cost: $85
When: Wednesday, October 29, 2:00–5:00pm
Description: In this workshop you’ll learn to hand-sew and install a fabric lining into a sweet little knitted or crocheted pouch: skills that translate nicely to lining any knitted or crocheted bag, or to lining pockets in a garment. You’ll knit or crochet a flat rectangle ahead of time, and Karen will come to class with a wide array of cute and colorful fabrics you’ll choose from for your lining. All seaming and sewing will be done in class!
Prerequisites: You should be able to complete the homework ahead of time (i.e., follow a written pattern to knit and bind off a garter-stitch rectangle with an i-cord edge, or crochet either a linen-stitch square or a granny square). You don’t need any prior experience with seaming or hand-sewing.
Homework: You’ll need to knit or crochet the pouch (a flat rectangle) ahead of time. Detailed instructions will be provided when you register. All seaming will be done in class.
Min/max number of participants: 5/8
Materials to bring along:
- 1 skein Berroco Ultra Wool, purchased from Spun
- size US6 needles (straight or circular) or size H crochet hook
- tapestry needle for seaming your pouch
- all other materials (fabric, sewing needles, thread) will be provided by the instructor
