Crochet for Knitters
Teacher: Karen Lucas
Cost: $70
When: Wednesday, March 11, 6:00–9:00pm
Description: This class is for the knitter who would like to add a few crochet techniques to their knitting know-how. You’ll start by learning the basics to get comfortable handling a crochet hook. Then you’ll learn how to work a provisional cast-on, a slip-stitch bind-off, and a simple seaming technique, before moving on to a couple of edging finishes to add a little pizzazz to your knitted project.
Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills are required to do the homework. No previous crochet experience is necessary.
Homework: You will need to bring three swatches to class. Using worsted weight yarn and US7 or US8 needles, cast on 30 sts. Work in stockinette (knit right-side rows, purl wrong-side rows) until piece measures 5” from edge. Leave one of the these swatches on the needles (do not bind off), and bind off the other two.
Min/max number of participants: 5/8
Materials to bring along:
- Worsted weight yarn in two different colors, purchased from Spun (we suggest Berroco Lanas)
- Size US7 or US8 knitting needles (preferably straight needles)
- Size G and H crochet hooks (you will need both)
- Scissors
