Advanced Granny Square Workshop: “Granny Square Card Deck” by Claire Montgomerie

Teacher: Karen Lucas

Cost: $125

When: Mondays, November 3, 17 & December 1, 6:00–8:00pm

Description: By popular demand, we’re offering a class that will really build your granny square know-how! Using Claire Montgomerie’s wonderful Granny Square Card Deck, you’ll learn advanced techniques, including how to read crochet charts. Karen will choose the first few cards, and as the class progresses, participants will get to pick a few favorites to take on. You’ll come away with enough confidence to make an amazing blanket or cushion or whatever you fancy!

Prerequisites: Participants must be confident making a classic granny square.

Homework: None

Min/max number of participants: 5/8

Materials to bring along:

  • The Granny Square Card Deck by Claire Montgomerie
  • At least 4 colors of worsted or dk weight yarn, purchased from Spun. (We recommend Hello Crafts DK Cotton or Berroco Pima 100.)
  • Hook: US size F (for dk weight) or size G (for worsted weight)
  • Removable stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Optional additional reference: Claire’s written instructions (Kindle edition only), available on Amazon here (note that this is an add-on, not a substitute for the deck)
