In Shetland Shades: Stories in Wool Gudrun Johnston pays homage to her Shetland roots and Shetland's rich knitting traditions. Its 12 knitting patterns focus heavily on versatile vests, complemented by a few beautiful hats and scarves, all inspired by Shetland's rugged beauty and all exploring various ways of knitting with color. Also included here are personal essays in which Gudrun explores her creative process, her knitting heritage, and her interest in sewing, inviting makers to be inspired by Shetland's unique landscape and its centuries of crafting. 

Please note that Shetland Shades was printed with a "Swiss binding," which means the front cover is detached from the spine, allowing it to lay flat when the book is opened.
