Next Step Knitting: "Chunky Hat"
Teacher: Karen Lucas
Cost: $85
When: Wednesdays, October 8 & 22, 6:00–8:00pm
Description: Congratulations! You’ve learned how to knit and purl! So . . . what’s next? Hats provide the perfect opportunity to put your new skills to work: a small and manageable canvas for practicing, with a highly wearable (and giftable!) result!. You’ll learn to knit in the round with both circular and double-pointed needles, make decreases, and follow a simple written pattern. Worked in a bulky weight yarn, the Chunky Hat knits up very quickly with no fuss, so you can focus on the essentials and have fun at the same time.
Prerequisites: Participants should be familiar with the long-tail cast-on, knitting, and purling.
Homework: Cast on 72 stitches using the long-tail method. You will begin class with joining to work in the round.
Min/max number of participants: 5/8
Materials to bring along:
- 1 skein Fibre Co. Tundra, purchased from Spun
- 16” size US10.5 circular needle
- Size US10.5 double-pointed needles
- Stitch marker
- Darning needle
- A copy of the Spundamental "Chunky Hat" pattern (free with yarn purchase; if ordering online, just include a note in the comments field requesting it)
