Yarn School: From Sheep to Shawl!

Description: Learn the art and science behind yarn! In this informative and hands-on class, Jill Tamminen from Knit Sisu will take you from sheep to shawl by guiding you through yarn weights, fibers, textures, construction, needle interaction, and how to determine the best yarn for certain stitches and projects. You'll receive the Knit Sisu "Tangled Up In Yarn" guide, and you’ll have the opportunity to try knitting with many different yarn and needle combinations. Come with all your yarn questions!

Materials to bring along:
- Optional: bring a variety of your favorite needles in different sizes (interchangeables are ideal if you have them). Instructor will also have needles available.
Jill Tamminen is the owner and designer of Knit Sisu knitting patterns. She designs for the Everyday Knitter with clear, accessible, unfussy knitting patterns, and always provides support along the way.
Along with being a designer, Jill is a professional knitting instructor. Having worked with individuals and groups of knitters of all skill levels, Jill understands what knitters want (and do not want) out of a project. She has been a published and featured designer for many yarn companies and dyers, has multiple published designs, and has been featured on the K2Tog podcast and on Twisted Stitches.
What is SISU? Sisu is a Finnish word that describes a mindset of quiet strength, determination, courage, humility, resilience, and gratitude. Jill grew up with Sisu, and tries to carry its wisdom into all aspects of her life.
When she's not knitting, you can find Jill on long walks or hikes with her husband, practicing yoga, cooking, reading, or playing with their pup, Sig.
