Join-As-You-Go Granny Square Workshop

Description: If you love crocheting granny squares but dread joining them together, this is the class for you! Under Karen Lucas’s expert guidance, you’ll learn and practice a simple and fun technique for joining the squares as you go. Before you know it, you’ll be saying farewell to that guilt-inducing stack of squares that’s been sitting on your shelf forever, and hello to a beautiful new afghan! Note: This workshop does not teach you to make granny squares. You’ll need to make the squares prior to class.
Prerequisites: You’ll need basic crochet skills to make 9 granny squares ahead of time. This class does not teach you to make the squares, only how to join them together.
Homework: Using Berroco Vintage Baby and a size F hook, make nine 3-round granny squares as described in the “Oma” Spundamental pattern, using as many different colors as you want. Do not work the optional final round; the joining technique will take its place.
Min/max number of participants: 5/8
Materials to bring along:
- 2 (or more!) skeins of Berroco Vintage Baby in as many different colors as you like
- Size F crochet hook
- Scissors or snips
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- A copy of the “Oma” Spundamental pattern (free with yarn purchase; if ordering online, just include a note in the comments field requesting it)
