The Gumnut Cardigan by OGE Knitwear Designs is a sweet top-down raglan with a simple lace design on the front panels. The soft, washable goodness of Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton Sport is available in a palette of cheerful brights and soft neutrals, perfect to dress your favorite small person in style!
Gumnut Cardigan is available in 5 sizes, from 3 to 24 months and is designed to be worn with approximately 2 to 3 inches of positive ease. In general it’s best to go by the baby’s actual chest measurement when selecting the appropriate size instead of the age label.
- Size 1 (3 months): to fit a 16” chest, with a 18.75” finished chest circumference
- Size 2 (6 months): to fit a 17” chest, with a 21” finished chest circumference
- Size 3 (12 months): to fit a 18” chest, with a 21.75” finished chest circumference
- Size 4 (18 months): to fit a 19” chest, with a 23” finished chest circumference
- Size 5 (24 months): to fit a 20” chest, with a 24.25” finished chest circumference
Each kit includes sufficient Organic Cotton Sport (100% organic cotton) for the size specified in the color of your choice, along with the pattern. We will purchase a copy of Gumnut Cardigan for you via Ravelry, so you will automatically receive both a printed copy and an emailed PDF. Please note that this kit does not include needles or buttons. You will need US4 12-14” straight or 24” or longer circular needles and US4 DPNs (or size needed to achieve gauge). If you don't already have the appropriate needles at home, you can shop Spun's selection of straight needles here, circular needles here and DPNs here. The pattern also calls for 6-7 10-12mm buttons (6 buttons for sizes 1-2, 7 buttons for sizes 3-5). We used these buttons on our sample. You can shop Spun’s full selection of buttons here.
