Spun is excited to welcome designer and hand-dyer Lisa Borum! She'll be bringing along her brand-new collection of designs, as well as a selection of her gorgeous hand-dyed yarn.
Some background:
Lisa discovered her passion for knitting at age 14, and over the years, that love grew into a fulfilling career as a knitwear designer. In 2022, she founded Yarn Nerds, a brand dedicated to hand-dyed yarns and thoughtfully crafted designs, all created in her Detroit home studio. Yarn Nerds began as a club Lisa started with her three daughters to stay connected and keep crafting together, eventually growing into a family business.
At this point in her career, Lisa has designed over 50 patterns, including work for Cascade Yarns, KnitPicks, and WeCrochet. In December 2024, she released her book Stitched in Style: Timeless Knits for Every Wardrobe, featuring 10 garment patterns and 1 accessory design. Inspired by her family, Lisa names many of her yarns, colors, and patterns after her husband and children, weaving personal stories into all her creations.
With a dream to expand, Lisa envisions opening a larger dye studio and retail space to showcase her vibrant yarns and accessories. Her work celebrates the art of knitting and crocheting, bringing her family-inspired vision to fiber enthusiasts everywhere.
Some details:
- Lisa will be at the shop all day on Sunday, January 26. She'll be bringing two of our favorite things: books (her new book, as well as some crafting journals and a coloring book) and yarn!
