Knit a Summer Top: “Anker’s Summer Shirt” by PetiteKnit
Teacher: Karen Lucas
Cost: $160
When: Wednesdays, April 30, May 14 & 28, June 11, 3:00–5:00pm
Description: Knitting is for summer, too! In this class you’ll make a lightweight summer shirt, ideal for three-season layering. Anker’s Summer Shirt is worked from the top down so you can try it on as you go, with simple shaping and virtually no finishing required—ideal for a first-time garment knitter or anyone looking to increase their skills with a fun project. Along the way you’ll discuss pattern-reading, swatching, sizing and gauge, and shaping with increases.
Prerequisites: Students must be comfortable with the knit and purl stitches and knitting in the round.
Homework: None
Min/max number of participants: 5/8
Materials to bring along:
- DK-weight cotton or cotton-blend yarn, purchased from Spun (we suggest Berroco Remix Light or Fibre Co Luma)
- Size US6 circular needles in 16”, 24”, and 32” or 40” depending on your size, along with DPNs for sleeves (if not using magic loop)
- A printed or digital copy of the “Anker’s Summer Shirt” pattern by PetiteKnit (purchase from Ravelry here)
- Stitch markers (both ring-style and removable)
