Continental Knitting
Teacher: Beth Battey
Cost: $70
When: Sunday, February 23, 2:00–5:00pm
Description: Are you an English knitter (“thrower”) who’d like to learn to knit in the Continental (“picking”) style? Maybe because you’d like to experiment with your knitting speed or tension or posture? Or because you’re interested in upping your colorwork game by becoming more proficient at using your left hand? In this workshop you'll learn how to hold your yarn for even tension, basic knit and purl stitches, the Norwegian purl, and ribbing, leaving you some handy new skills in your knitting toolbox. Please note that this is not a beginning knitting class but one designed to explore alternatives with knitters who are already proficient in the English style.
Prerequisites: Participants should be proficient and confident English knitters (“throwers”).
Homework: None
Min/max number of participants: 4/8
Materials to bring along:
- One skein of light-colored worsted weight yarn, purchased from Spun (we suggest Berroco Lanas or Vintage)
- Size US8 circular needle, 24”
