Beginning Knitting with Mary Brandau
Teacher: Mary Brandau
Cost: $160
When: Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23 & 30, 6:00–8:00pm
Description: In this four-week class, you’ll learn the basics of knitting. Beginning with casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off, you’ll get lots of practice as you create a beautiful sampler scarf. Mary will also cover knitting tools and terminology, and the basics of gauge, yarn weight, and fiber. You’ll gain confidence as you learn how to fix simple mistakes and how to block.
Participants who have attempted knitting in the past will easily be successful and begin to read their knitting. If you’ve never worked with needles and yarn before, the scarf pattern may be adjusted for your skill level. The class is a combination of lecture and practice, with time for questions and help. Completing the scarf will require time outside of class and may take more than four weeks.
You are cordially invited to join the wonderful world of knitting! Who knows where your journey will take you?
