One of our favorite things about living in Ann Arbor is meeting folks from all over the world (thanks, University of Michigan!), and one of the first requests we hear from travelers is, "Show me your Michigan yarn!" We have plenty to see and more on the way!
The latest addition is UP North Yarns, from Michigan hand-dyer Monica Thoune, who hails from the Upper Peninsula. We're bringing in two of Monica's bases (including a BFL sock!) and are especially chuffed about our Spun-exclusive colorway "Getting Better All the Time." (Monica is already dyeing more skeins of "Getting Better" while she gets even more pretties ready to send our way!)
The rich colorways of Why Knot Fibers, from Traverse City's Kat Eldred, and Fiberstory, from Harrison Township's Sarah Freitas, have graced our cubbies from the day we opened in 2015. These beautiful yarns are among your shop-wide favors, and they're certainly among ours. (Isn't it nice that we have so much in common?)
Love socks? Do yourself a favor, and make a pair (or a few pairs!) using Knitterly Things Vesper Sock, hand-dyed by Macomb County's lovely Julia Vesper. Vesper Sock is a self-striping classic, its color changes clean and vibrant and defined, guaranteed to bring cheer to any wearer's feet.
Kathleen Grace, who hails from Grand Rapids, brings us Leroo Cotton, featuring bases that bestow a hand-dyer's color genius upon a range of vegan bases in fingering, DK, and bulky weights.
Pinconning's Jill Zielinski offers up the stunning North Bay Fibers Elemental Sport, a yarn sourced, spun, and dyed entirely in Michigan. The sweater of your dreams awaits!
And there's more on the way, including a yak-based sock yarn from Eaton Rapids' AJHC Fibers and more sock-y goodness from Canton-based newcomers Fiberology Dyeworks.
Looking for even more Mitten-inspired goodness? We offer goodies including project bags, notions, and more, all celebrating this special place we're grateful to call home. Next time you're at the shop, look for the little tag in the photo above, or just ask any of us, and we'll be happy to show you around. (If you're shopping online, you can see all of our Michigan-based yarns right here.)
