Hilary Smith Callis’s Appia is a lacy cowl-shawl hybrid with a pretty picot bind-off at the edge. It is shaped like a semi-circular shawl with evenly spaced increase rows, but is worked partially in the round, so it can be worn as a cowl without any dangling ends. The all-over Roman Stripe stitch pattern is simple to execute and creates a knitted fabric that is both lacy and highly textured, for maximum impact. We’ve kitted it up in Scrumptious 4-Ply (45% mulberry silk, 55% superwash Merino), which brings this beauty excellent drape and sheen.
Each kit contains 1 skein of Fyberspates Scrumptious 4-Ply (45% mulberry silk, 55% superwash Merino) in the color of your choice and the pattern for Appia, which will make one cowl with a 22” circumference and 18” height. We will purchase a copy of Appia for you via Ravelry, so you will automatically receive both a printed copy and an emailed PDF. If you would also like to have this pattern in your Ravelry library, please note your Ravelry ID (not your password!) in the "Notes" field in your cart!
Please note that this kit does not include needles. You will need a US6 24” circular needle (or size needed to achieve gauge). If you don't already have the appropriate needle at home, you can shop Spun's selection of circular needles here.
If you'd like to make your kit a gift (for yourself or someone else), or if you just wish to keep your new project tidy and organized, add the Spun Rope Handle Bag with Pin to your order and we will package your purchase accordingly!
