Sweater Workshop: “Audrey’s Cardigan,” by Elizabeth Smith

Description: Level up your skills in this workshop, perfect for first-time sweater knitters. “Audrey’s Cardigan” is a classic v-neck raglan that knits up quickly in bulky yarn. In this 4-week class you’ll learn all the basics of top-down raglan construction, including swatching, body shaping, working a button band, finishing, and blocking.
Prerequisites: Participants should be familiar with the long-tail cast-on, knitting, and purling.
Homework: Your instructor will send directions for swatching in advance of the first class.
Min/max number of participants: 4/8
Materials to bring along:
- 640–1300 yds bulky weight yarn, purchased from Spun (we recommend Juniper Moon La Pampa or Berroco Lanas Quick)
- 32” size US10 circular needle (or size necessary to achieve gauge)
- 32” size US9 circular needle (or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge)
- stitch markers
- tapestry needle
- 4 buttons, approx ⅞”
