Spinning Workshop: Art Yarns
Teacher: Mary Clipner
Cost: $75
When: Saturday, March 18, 10:00–12:00pm
Description: Take a break from typical twisted yarns, and come play with something new! Enjoy experimenting with combinations of colors and textures to create a truly unique skein of yarn. For this workshop, students should be comfortable with spinning singles and plying. We will provide a spinning wheel for each student plus some materials, but if you have a bobbin of previously spun yarn you’d like to use, bring it along. Level up your hand-spinning, and make yarn that will turn heads!
Mary Clipner is the co-founder/operator of Copper Bear Shire, where she and her husband, David, produce various traditional handmade goods and teach heirloom homesteading skills. Follow their adventures on Instagram @copperbearshire.
Prerequisites: Participants should know how to use a spinning wheel and be comfortable spinning singles and plying.
Homework: None.
Min/max number of participants: 2/4
Materials to bring along: If you have singles you’d like to use in making art yarn, please bring them. If there are any types of special beads, threads, or ribbon you’d like to try including in your yarn, bring those as well. The instructor will also provide wool, threads, ribbons, and fun beads to use in class.
