Next Steps in Wheel Spinning
Teacher: Mary Clipner
When: Sunday, February 12, 12:00–2:00pm
Description: Do you have lovely bobbins of singles you’ve spun and are not sure where to go next? Join us in discovering the next steps for finishing your handspun yarn. Whether you work with a drop spindle or wheel, we’ll walk you through the process of completing your yarn so you’ll be ready to take on whatever pattern catches your eye. In this workshop students will be provided with drop spindles, a spinning wheel, finishing tools, and time to turn singles into a plied and twisted hank.
Mary Clipner is the co-founder/operator of Copper Bear Shire, where she and her husband, David, produce various traditional handmade goods and teach heirloom homesteading skills. Follow their adventures on Instagram @copperbearshire.
Prerequisites: Participants should know how to spin singles on either their drop spindle or wheel. If you don’t have previous wheel experience, use your drop spindle. We will not be covering how to use the wheel in this class.
Homework: Spin singles of yarn (using either a drop spindle or wheel) to use in class.
Min/max number of participants: 2/5
Materials to bring along: Please bring any bobbins of spun singles you’d like to finish. All necessary tools will be provided by the instructor.
