Modular Knitting Workshop
Teacher: Kathy Naumann
Cost: $65
When: Sunday, November 5, 10:00–1:00pm
Description: So . . . what’s modular knitting anyway? Well: “Modular knitting” is an umbrella term for projects composed of small knitted blocks that fit together without seaming. In this lively workshop, Kathy Naumann will guide you through the process of creating “no-sew” mitered squares, to seemingly magical effect, learning the easiest way to knit a square and how to pick up stitches in each direction. Note: While you’ll be using a skein of slow-striping yarn in class (it’s perfectly suited for this approach), modular knitting projects also make perfect scrap-busters! You’ll walk away with all the skills you need to make a classic mitered-square blanket using the yarn of your choice.
Prerequisites: Participants must be able to knit.
Homework: None.
Min/max number of participants: 4/10
Materials to bring along:
- Your choice of 1 skein of slow-striping yarn in any weight, purchased from Spun. We recommend any of our self-striping Noro yarns, or Uneek Fingering. (If you are taking this class with a friend, you could split one skein of Ito, Tsubame or Yukata.)
- One pair of straight 9” knitting needles, in the size recommended for your choice of yarn
- One ring-style stitch marker
