Embroider Your Knits
Teacher: Karen Lucas
Cost: $52
When: Sunday, September 29, 11:30am–1:30pm
Description: Make something beautiful and truly personal! This class will teach you to embellish your hand-knits with beautiful embroidery. Inspired by the book Embroidery on Knits, by Judit Gummlich, Karen will guide you through gathering your supplies, setting up your pattern on your knitted swatch (see below), and working simple embroidery stitches to make your designs come to life! You don’t need to own Gummlich’s book, but if you do have a copy, please bring it along.
Prerequisites: Students should have basic knitting skills (casting on, knitting, purling, binding off) so they’re able to complete the homework (below).
Homework: You’ll need to knit a swatch that measures at least 9” square. With Berroco Ultra Wool and size US7 or US8 needle, cast on 50 (or more) sts. Work 4 rows in garter stitch (knit every row). Then work in stockinette as follows: RS rows: knit all sts; WS rows: K3, purl to last 3 sts, K3. Repeat until your piece measures 9”. Then work 4 rows in garter stitch, and bind off knitwise. Wash and block.
Min/max number of participants: 5/8
Materials to bring along:
- 1 skein Berroco Ultra Wool, purchased from Spun
