You’ve admired it--all those Fair Isle sweaters!--and maybe been mystified by it, but now let’s consider that it might be time for you to give it a try. Let’s start with a definition: Stranded knitting is the art of creating patterns by using two or more colors in a single row, with the unused color carried along the back of the work. Though mastery of stranded knitting takes time, it’s not as hard as it looks. This one-session class will teach you the basics, including reading charts, resolving tension issues, and color dominance, all while guiding you through the process of making a simple (and cute!) two-color headband. Under Mary’s expert guidance, you’ll come away with a solid understanding of how this technique achieves such beautiful results.

Prerequisites: Familiarity with casting on, knitting and purling in the round.

Homework: With main color yarn and smaller needle, cast on 108 sts.
