Crochet for Knitters

Description: Crochet deserves lots of love for its own sake (texture! lace! speed!), but diehard knitters who want to expand their crafting reach also need to have a few basic crochet skills under their belts. This class is designed to help you learn and perfect the crochet techniques knitters need. Beth will show you an easy crochet bind-off to use when you’re running low on yarn, great cast-ons that work for a variety of garments, pretty crochet edgings, how to join two pieces using crochet to create a sturdy seam, how to conquer the provisional cast-on, and more. Note that this class has homework you’ll need to do ahead of time!
Prerequisites: Participants should be familiar with the following: the long-tail cast-on, knitting, purling, and knitting in the round.
Homework: Participants should come to class with a knitted 5”x5” stockinette swatch that is still on the needles.
Min/max number of participants: 4/8
Materials to bring along:
- Your knitted swatch, worked up from a skein of light-colored worsted weight yarn, purchased from Spun (we suggest Berroco Lanas or Vintage)
- Size US G or H crochet hook
